A purpose is the foundation of everything we do. The strength of our purpose will decide whether our efforts, in everything, continues relentlessly or stopped at the face of troubles. To be truhtful, I would like this blog to carry on for days, weeks, months, and years to come. And for that to happen, the one thing I have to do first is this.
I have to find my purpose.
To hell with how I’m going to find traffic for this blog. Forget about what’s the best layout to choose. And ignore about the neverending debate in my head whether getting a dotcom for this blog is better than having it hosted for free in WordPress.com as it is now.
Now that I think of it, that’s how I used to think, used to do, whenever I created a new blog.
I’m taking a different approach now.
I’ll worry about my purpose first. I don’t want to send Plain Blogging to the wasteland of abandoned blogs.
The Quest for Purpose
Okay, I’m a videogamer and I can’t resist but to imagine that this will be a grand quest with epic storyline. But the truth is that I know it’s something simple.
As I mentioned before in my first post, my purpose is one.
I wish my blog can be useful.
Defining Usefulness
Useful for who? And in what way?
This is a blog about blog. Blog is all about having your unique voice presented for everyone to hear. It’s a powerful medium. I’d like to be contribute. Ah, that would be a word too tame.
I want to put a dent in the blog universe.
I want to this blog to be useful for you. For me. For us all.
And I’ll do that by providing valuable content. I don’t think there’s any other way.
To be Honest, I Don’t Know How to Create Valuable Content
If that’s not the holy grail of blogging, then I don’t know what is. So I wouldn’t be surprised if I struggled here.
It’s difficult, so I’ll cheat.
Instead of worrying about making valuable content, I’ll focus on avoiding making junk content.
I hope that’s easier.
Conclusion
I have my purpose now. A plain, simple purpose. And I will hold it tight within me. I don’t know if this post has been useful, or tiresome, to you precious readers. I’m hoping for the latter. If you hate this post, kindly let me know.
In fact, if you have any voice for this post, kindly let me know as well.

[...] course we must define success. And that ties tightly with the purpose of the blog itself. For me, the purpose for this blog is to be useful. Fortunately, I haven’t set any measurement on how useful it should be. Whether one person or [...]

You’ve taken a great idea — useful but almost too simple that we tend to take it for granted — and shown its true value. I’ve always tried to make sure my blogs really say something and not be a dumping ground. I’m glad I came across your blog. Thanks!

Hello, Isabel, thank you for visiting (and leaving me your kind words at that).
I’ve visited your blog and I can safely say that you’ve proven that your blog does have something to say (i.e. I’m sure it’s a great contribution to your DEH Community). Happy blogging!
